Well, where did that year go! The Junction Model Railway Club has had a good year with some new members joining and some steady progress with the layout.
We have completed the main framework and made covers to protect the layout. Most of the track has been laid and the electrics and scenery have been started but there is still a lot of work to do. We are in no rush, as the ethos of the club is to enjoy the night, have a chat with tea, biscuits and occasionally cake.
We meet every Monday night from 7pm, upstairs at the Priory, and are now able to have the occasional running night. On a running night members bring their own trains and rolling stock along and run them on either the main OO gauge layout, or one of the two small N gauge layouts that are owned by one of the members of the club.
The club was asked by a model club in Bideford if we could set up and operate a layout as part of an exhibition day for a local charity based in Barnstaple. Dave, John and Joe took one of the small layouts to Bideford, and with many other groups and clubs helped make the day a success.
The club’s next major task is to start building the baseboards for an ‘N’ gauge layout based on Exeter Central Station.
The Club has set up a Facebook page
www.facebook.com/thejunctionmrc
And a website with regular updates and photos of the progress.
A very big thank you to all who have contributed over the past 12 months, and to the Stoke Hill Community Association for letting us host our meetings in the Priory.
Thanks,
Mark (Club Secretary)
